NEW-STEM: Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent (some college credit preferred)
2. Completed or will soon complete military service
   • Departing with “Honorable” discharge
3. Training, experience or previous academic coursework in one of the following technical areas: engineering (chemical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial, mechanical, aerospace or optical), mathematics or science
4. Able to meet admission standards of The University of Alabama in Huntsville
   • Complete and submit UAHuntsville application
   • Complete and submit NEW-STEM supplemental application, with resume and VMET
5. Provide any and all documents needed by the selection committee and participating academic institution in a timely manner. Some documentation will include:
   • If any university/college credits received, will need to provide a college transcript for each university/college attended. If less than 24 hours credit received from another university/college, will need to provide ACT/SAT scores, too
   • If graduated from high school within the last 5 years, will need to provide high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores
   • If graduated from high school more than 5 years ago, will need to provide only high school transcript

• Strong academic fundamentals in math and science
• A current “secret” clearance and the ability to transfer the security clearance “in status”
